Reset BIOS Password Toshiba Satellite A135

Toshiba Satellite A135 have noisily added power on passwords after BIOS updates and just by random. So I decided to find a fix and document it for everyone.

1. connect JOPEN1 (U) with JOPEN1 (T).

2. JOPEN1 there are two lines not connected to each other.

3. Two of these lines resemble the letter T and U positions overlap each other above T U.

4. Because the distance is too close and so small, it could not rely on a pair of tweezers or a pin. Finally I decided to use a small minus screwdriver.

5. I connect the two pins is (T and U) for about 45 seconds.

6. Then I put right again and turn on the laptop again.

7. Finally we can breathe with relief because the BIOS display appears immediately without question a password again.

Hacker Group GhostShell Leaks One Million Records

Project HellFire by the hacktivist group GhostShell claims to have released one million account details from websites, in a project under the alias “Hellfire”. GhostShell a hacker group linked with the Activist group Anonymous is claiming that they have hacked some major U.S. institutions including major banking institutions, accounts of politicians and has posted those details online. The dumps comprising of millions of accounts has been let loose on the web by the hacking collective. The motivation behind the hack, the group claims, is to protest against banks, politicians and the hackers who have been captured by law enforcement agencies. Some of the hacked databases included over 30,000 records, although the actual figures were “hard to count and verify”. While “a lot of the data” does not appear to be sensitive, through CMS exploits GhostShell was able to steal a “very large portion” of the files, which noticeably included credit history reports. Other information included usernames, passwords, email addresses and the real names of account holders. The group justifies its operation, Project HellFire, as a “final form of protest this summer against the banks, politicians and for all the fallen hackers this year”.

Rigged Money Book Review

Rigged Money is a great book Lee Munson highlights a lot of key points that are different then the usual Wall Street mentality. One reason I like this book is because Munson actually works with clients and investing he is not just another author writing a book. Some key points in this book I loved were

1. The Buy and Hold is a scam

2. Most ETF’s are scams

3. The Lie of the Pie

4. Wall Streets invents the demand

5. Throwing mud on the theory of a random walk and efficient markets

6. The classic financial adviser sales pitch

Overall I though this was a great book and a great read and thank you Lee Munson for leaving no Wall Street stone unturned.

Installing XP drivers on Vista or 7

1. Downloading latest drivers (v14.19.50) for XP from the manufactures site and extracting them to a separate folder

2. Booting Windows 7 or Vista in the safe mode

4. Then navigate to Device Manager -> Video Adapter (VGA compatible) -> Properties

5. Click Driver -> Update driver -> Browse -> Let me pick -> Display adapters -> Have disk -> give path to the folder of the extracted driver

6. After you get error about driver installation in Device Manager click on “Scan for new hardware”

7. Boot your W7 or Vista in “Disable driver signing enforcement” mode

Disable Driver Signing

To disable windows driver signing follow these steps:

1. Run command prompt as Administrator

2. type bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

3. Then type bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

4. See security risk warning above.

5. If it doesn’t work for whatever reason you can just remove loadoptions

6. Use bcedit and switch testsigning off bcdedit /deletevalue loadoptions

7. Then bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF

Trillian Instant Messenger Review

Trillian is the all in one application for chating with friends from Google, Skype, Facebook, AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, and IRC. The applications integrates into Twitter and Facebook with alerts and checks both POP3 and IMAP e-mail.

Developed by Cerulean Studios, the software has been around since late 2002 it was designed to be the alternative to Windows Live Messenger. Then later incorporated several other IM protocols such as Google Talk, Skype, Facebook Chat and many more.

Trillian has definitely broadened their development horizons by making their software available for Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Blackberry and Web / Cloud Client. Trillian Pro looks like a cheap purchase of only $12 dollars a year with added features. I do like their catchphrase “Skip a coffee this month and get started!”. Pro has a few feature benefits

There following the same structure that app developers are following on the mobile market with free apps versus paid app. The amount of features present in the paid version is not huge, but there are some notable services that might be beneficial to some users.

Over all I have been a huge fan of this application on the desktop and on the mobile application side. I have used this messanger on the Mac and on the Windows PC and I love the consistency and stability it brings. I like how I can save resources by running one messenger client and how there is not bloat hurting your application or PC performance. Overall this is a great application I will continue to use happily.

Search Engine Optimization Over Online Ads

With the electronics document industry gaining more popularity every day and less paper print being distributed the internet has become the platform for finding businesses for the services you need and desire. Unlike Google Adwords and Facebook ads Search Engine Optimization (SEO) cost you nothing but your time. SEO gives you an advantage because your information only shows up when people are looking for a topic related to your business or service. There are more people not asking for your business url and just saying I will “Google It”. This is where SEO comes into play and how certain techniques can influence the search engine to make sure you are “On Top Of Google Search” meaning the first page of a search.

More now than ever businesses are getting web sites designed and getting SEO companies to audit the sites and make them search engine friendly. The problem with SEO is there is much involved and much that gets overlooked in the audit process. There are many little secrets and tactics that can make a huge difference that many businesses and website owners can do independently on their own at no cost.

This information is SO important for more reasons then I can list. Analytics itself holds a great deal of search engine weight and it has been proven that sites with a Google Analytics account rank higher than others. Site page analytics and link popularity has a very large influencer in Google’s page ranking system.

The next tool I would definitely sign up for and add to any web site that wants good SEO results is Google Webmaster Tools. This tool is very important for a number of reasons with this tool you can view how Google Search views your page for searching. This tool by itself is important but there is a feature in Google Analytics that allows you to link the two account together which I would recommend doing right away. This allows you to use Google Webmaster tools as not only a way to view search but allows you to influence the Analytics data by checking page indexing, site mapping and backlinking formation. This makes these two tools your biggest allies in the effort to improve your page ranking.

One of the biggest parts of SEO that is overlooked is backlinking. Most of us have heard of the phrase “Link Weight” this references the backlinking technique. A site with a lot of inbound links indicates to Google Search that a site is popular there for link popularity is playing a role in your page ranking. Backlinking is more than just making links. One top level backlink from a highly ranked page like YouTube or Facebook holds more link weight then a bunch of spam links from a free wordpress website.

Since we are speaking about wordpress this is another piece of SEO that gets missed regularly blogging. I always read help your page rank by starting a blog. The blog only helps your site if it’s installed under a subdirectory of your root domain. For example www.yoursite.com/blog There are a few huge reasons for this search engines get influiced by content but a search engine is not smart enough to know that yoursite.wordpress.com is the same owner as www.yoursite.com. The point of the blog in a subdirectory is to gain text rich word content, page indexing and backlinks for your domain. By using the subdirectory of your domain you get all this important SEO influence to your domain not a free blogging platform’s domain.

One thing to always remember when dealing with SEO is design sites for people not for search engines. The general rule is if people can’t find the information neither can search engine crawlers. Try to avoid Javascript or Java programming language it blocks the meta crawlers. Java is generally slow and Google does factor in site performance into their ranking system. Flash is another problem don’t embed your text inside of flash code the meta crawlers will have a hard time reading the information and may miss content. The best sites are HyperText Markup Language (HTML) they are text based so they are very easy and fast for search engine crawlers to read and your pagerank will not suffer because of performance issues.

As the internet continues to grow and change the need for better page ranking and search engine friendly pages continues to rise. The search engine algorithms are always changing so you need the most search engine friendly page.

Wikileaks Still Down After Major Leak

Wikileaks reports a government spy network using Trapwire to capture surveillance cameras in stores, casinos, and other businesses around the country. Apparently agents can use facial recognition software to analyze this footage for people of interest. The way Trapwire works is every few seconds, data picked up at surveillance points in major cities and landmarks across the United States are recorded digitally on the spot, then encrypted and instantaneously delivered to a fortified central database center. From what I have read the fortified central database center was in Maryland then I heard DC it’s speculation the truth is the location is undisclosed no one really know where it’s located.

Trapwire was created by a private company named Abraxas which was founded by Richard “Hollis” Helms and is staffed by ex-CIA agents. They sold the product to various government agencies, local governments, and private companies. The US department of homeland security paid $832,000 to deploy Trapwire in Washington DC and the Seattle area.

After the Leak Wikileaks got taken down for ten days do to DDoS Attack and is still down. This has happened in the past to Wikileaks after major leaks but never this long. A group called AntiLeaks claims responsibility behind the attack. The DDoS attack is apparently their way of making sure that the group can’t release any more leaks. When asked how long AntiLeaks would keep Wikileaks down there answer was “Forever”.

AntiLeaks claims Wikileaks is a terrorist organization and they deserve to be down forever. Only time will tell how long they can keep Wikileaks down for my guess is AntiLeaks is a major player in the hacker group space and they have the resources to take Wikileaks down as long as they see fit.
