The Powerbeats Pro By Dre are the first pair of non-over-ear headphones I have tried from Beats By Dre and I was impressed but not thrilled for the price point of $249.95.
The Fit
To start with the fit I have no complaints about the earphones hook over the ear and give me a nice snug and secure fit which is a great feeling. I am always worried I am going to lose one like with the Airpods or Airpods Pro I always afraid they are going to fall out of my ears. With the Powerbeats Pro, they hook over your ears so that fear is gone unless you lose your ear which in that case you have a bigger issue.
Controls
I love the volume and track controls that are on both earbuds, not just one like on the cheaper Powerbeats.
Battery
The battery on these is amazing. You get 9 hours of listening time than with a 5-minute fast charge in the case you get another 1.5 hours. With a fully charged case, you can get 24 hours of listening time combined.
Extras
Powerbeats Pro are sweat and water-resistant. Notice I said resistant not proof so I would not go swimming with them. Since they are owned by Apple the pairing and integration with iPhone and Apple Music are amazing. I do use an iPhone with Spotify and had no issues.
Cons
These are noise isolation, not noise-cancelling with is a huge downfall for them at that price point where for that price you could get a pair of Airpods Pro that are noise cancelling. The case is huge and does fit in your pocket that well like the Airpods but I could see then being perfect for a gym bag.
Final
I would say for someone who is an athlete or likes to run or exercise these are a great choice with the long battery life and snug fit. I would even go as far as to say if you don’t need the noise-cancelling and are a gym goer these might be a better fit than the Airpod Pro design because of the snug fit, great controls and long battery life.
While these headphones are not a great fit for me as I am not a huge gym rat if I was I would buy these just for the gym and leave them in my gym bag.
